Las Cruces, New Mexico

Our Adventures in Las Cruces, New Mexico:

We visited the Historic Downtown Business District. We walked around and enjoyed the sights and nice weather, especially since the prior couple days have been cold and windy, and we really didn’t want to stay outside very long! Today was sunshine, no wind and in the 60’s.

We ate lunch at an awesome Mexican restaurant, Matteo’s. Best Carne Asada’s we’ve ever eaten and excellent customer service. However, I ate a few bites of a green chili peppers enchilada, and had a milk based Mexican drink, which I regretted later. Ugh!

Visited an interesting local Museum. We both love to learn about other cultures, they had a lot of Mexican history to share. We explored for awhile and took some photos. Free entry and free downtown parking was a bonus.

Found a cool Book Store, it was not as big as Powell’s in Portland, but covered half a block, loved browsing, only bought two books since we live in an RV and have little to no space! Thank goodness I can access the online Library and my Nook... not complaining. ;)

We also stumbled upon the Country Club Estates, and enjoyed viewing some cool houses, some were really unique and the views from up there were amazing! Houses here are 100k plus lower than the price in Portland. Renting a house is even cheaper, $1200 to $1500 for a 3 or 4 bedroom, average 1800 square feet. Homes start at 370K in a nice area. We were just curious, not moving here. Lol

We have an RV site with a great view but it hasn’t been much of a view until today. Beautiful and clear, we are starting to enjoy our stay here a little more.

On Monday we drove by New Mexico State University —didn’t know they had a university here. Cruised around town and had dinner from What-A- Burger, which was pretty good, reminded me of Burger Island burgers, actually made with fresh meat and fresh vegetables, and there not ginormous.

On to Roswell, New Mexico tomorrow morning.
