Newport & Middletown, Rhode Island

Newport, Rhode Island was REALLY CUTE! We enjoyed walking through the town and checking out the harbor, a local park and all the cute shops. The dogs found the cutest little doggie shop. It was an open door with a water dish in front, so of course they wanted to go in. We ended up talking to the owners for awhile, and they asked for pictures of the dogs for their website.

The next adventure was the Cliff Walk, it was a beautiful walk along the ocean. One side was under construction but we enjoyed walking the other side just fine. There were stairs in the center that went down to the water, to be exact, it was 40 steps (amount carved on the top step) the view from below a beautiful. Waves crashing against the rocks and the fresh ocean breeze blowing through was amazing. . 

We also checked out some Mansions in the area, which is always fun, especially when they’re the older historic homes that have so much character. Overall, a beautiful area, and a fun day in the sunshine!!

We arrived in Port Orange, Florida Thursday February 23rd. I immediately didn’t like the RV park, and I still don’t. It’s old and run down with a train track that runs right behind the park, trains run all hours… they’re insanely loud! On a good note, I found a place to get a massage and decided to try a hymilan salt stone massage. It was wonderful, so relaxing!!! I highly recommend trying one. Once I was finished, Shane and I got lunch from Panera, yum! And then we found a great dog park for the dogs to play-in, and socialize. Afterwards, we decided to explore the beach front areas close to Port Orange, where we’re staying.  We stumbled upon Ponce Inlet while looking for a dog friendly beach.We thought we’d get to drive onto the beach in Daytona. Since we weren’t seeing anything, we headed for a lighthouse that was supposed to be close by. That’s when we discovered a park with a river area for dogs. Washington, DC

Our time in Washington, DC was spectacular!! We made two full day visits, but could have easily spent a week and still probably not have seen everything. There is so much to see and even though most everything is free, you need to request timed tickets to enter many of the museums and the Capitol in advance. Thirty days if you want to get timed tickets to the Washington Monument, which takes people up to the top viewing area, which is supposed to be spectacular. Six weeks or more to visit the White House and you need to go through your congressman. So plan your trip in advance if you want to see inside any of these places.  We took a trolley tour on our first visit. I highly suggest this when visiting a large city with lots of attractions. We were able to get a better idea of what was there and where it was located so that the next day out we’d be able to navigate our route and manage our time properly. Wyoming Territorial Jail - Laramie, Wyoming

 This old Jail held a famous inmate, Butch Cassidy. The history was very interesting. We were able to tour not only the prison, but the broom manufacturing building where the inmates worked and replicas of a town, that included a church and cabin. They also had a large collection of old cars and farm machinery. We were both surprised by the amount of historical information and the amount of exhibits.
