Gettysburg, Pennsylvania

We explored many places in Gettysburg. The Battlefields, the Historic District and the Cemetery. We also had dinner at two local restaurants.

President Lincoln gave the Gettysburg address here November 19, 1863

The sculpture above was dedicated to the women that took care of everything at home while the men were fighting in the war. This statue was of a woman who ran the cemetery next to Gettysburg, with the help of her father. She was 6months pregnant when they buried 19 soldiers killed in the war. It was a hard time for all!

Gettysburg was founded in 1780 and named after one of the first settlers.

                   Gettysburg Covered Bridge

Saloon from the outside, but it’s never open, so don’t know if it’s a mine shaft or if what. Lol

The Lutheran Seminary, located on Seminary Ridge was another area in Gettysburg that joined the war, its buildings became hospitals for soldiers during the civil war. Many amputations happened there during this time, infection was very likely to occur when a soldier was wounded, and there were no antibiotics, so many lost their legs and arms in order to survive. :(

Dinner in the historic district in Gettysburg. The pitcher was so heavy, the drink it held was kinda like a red wine spritzer, that was served over frozen pineapple, delicious. Good food too!
